VALERY NIKIFOROV ( Sound Director )

Valery was born in Orenburg on 25 May 1970. From his early childhood he was dreaming of becoming an astronaut, but that dream has never materialized. Alongside with going to a secondary school he was attending a music school, where he learned to play a domra (Russian folk musical instrument). Gradually music became an important integral part of his life, therefore after he had finished the musical school Valery entered a variety music department of a musical college. After graduation he uses all his music knowledge and skills playing a guitar and performing functions of a Sound Director in the “Continent” band. Then he worked as a sound director on “Europa Plus – Urals” FM Radio Station until the year 2000. Then Valery moved over to Moscow to work with various sound recording studios like Toga Studio, PetroStudio, Soyuz Production among others. In 2003 Valery was invited to work at Igor Matviyenko Producer Center, where, in addition to the studio work he also involved in sound direction at the concerts of the artists of the Producer center. In 2009 Valery joined “Yascheritsa” ( Lizard ) Studio, and from 2010 he has been the Sound Director for Dmitry Koldun.

This is what he says about his musical preferencies: “I like various styles of music, the most important for me is that music should be created with love and high quality, however jazz has been and will be prevailing.” His favorite country is Germany and his favorite and often quoted writer is Igor Guberman.

VASSILY ZUBKOV (Bass Guitar)

Vassily was born in Moscow on 5 November 1985 . He finished a secondary school and also a musical school where he learned to play piano. Then he realized that the skill to play only one musical instrument, however well, was not enough. He tried to finger a guitar – and cannot stop as of today! When at school he tried to organize his own band – the kids got together, rehearsed, performed, but with no success. Vassily tried himself in various spheres of life, not only in music. For instance, he tried to get a medical degree. He entered a medical university but realized that was not his pair of shoes. Then he entered another university, also miles away from music, and he also peacefully quit that one. Next was his routine work as an engineer at the Moscow State University . Through all that period of his life he was actively trying to find himself, and this quest brought the guitarist to a Musical College where he studies now. Alongside with that he performs with both Dmitry Koldun’s band and Stvoly group.

Vassily characterizes himself as follows: “I love to have a good slack – and this is what I can do best of all!”. As to music he prefers to listen to Oasis, old-time jazz (Ray Brown, Charlie Parker), brit-pop, electronic music. In summer he likes playing soccer and in winter he goes snowboarding. He respects honesty and dislikes arrogance in people, and believes that a remedy for bad mood is positive thinking.

IGOR BABKO ( Solo Guitar )

Igor was born in Moscow in 1987. Migrated from one secondary school to another and settled down in a language lyceum, that was the fourth one in a row. As per Igor, life in senior forms of the lyceum was most interesting: cool parties, new films instead of classes, and of course music… Those were the days when his friends – amateur musicians – established their own band and regularly practiced their music skills. Apparently, the practice was very effective as quite a few talented musicians graduated from that lyceum (drummer with “Stigmata”, bass guitar player with “MoreMoney”, etc… Then Igor graduated from a Law Institute and did a lot of routine work in various areas. By the age of 23 Igor had tried himself as an engineer, insect exterminator, laser shooting range operator, creator, salesman of “whatever is sellable”, insurance agent, average commissioner, and lots and lots of other jobs. Incidentally, he was never dismissed from any of his jobs. No matter how busy he was with his work, Igor has always have time for music. Thus, together with his friends he established ”The Burns” musical project, where he plays a guitar, writes songs and sings. In the fall of 2010 Dmitry Koldun invited Igor to join his team as a guitar player.

This is what Igor says about his musical likes: “I like all kind of music, may be I like guitar a bit more than other music. My favorite bands are “The Turtles”, “Modest Mouse”, “Charlotte Hatherley”, “Sonic Youth”, “Count Basie”, and my most favorite musician is Jimmy Hendrix.” One of his life mottos is “No pains, no… pains”. Also the musician dreams of setting forth to an intergalactic voyage.

DMITRY VINNIKOV ( Percussions )

Dmitry was born on 22 December 1985 in Moscow into a family of musicians. His parents contributed a lot to his comprehensive development. In addition to his secondary school Dmitry attended a musical school to learn to play a violin, he went in for volleyball, ice hockey and swimming. His mother, a piano player, taught him to play a piano at home, and his father, a trumpet player, helped in mastering that no easy brass instrument. But all these skills were not enough for the talented youngster, he gets addicted to a new hobby – playing drums, and at the age of 14 he enters the Skryabin Musical School to learn percussions. In the tenth form Dmitry joins the Retriem group as percussionist. After finishing school he entered the Biomedical Engineering Department of the Moscow State University of IT and Instrumentation, however remaining loyal to his latest hobby. Thus, from 2003 through 2005 Dmitry developed his musical career with the team “Horny Necrophages” where he got his nickname “Soul Reaper”. Then he joined the band “Bloody Vostok”. Later he worked with several groups at the same time (“Katrina”, “Those Days”, “No Evidence”, “Autoscan Deathcore”) and had less and less time for his studies. Therefore after three years in the University he quitted and decided to devote all his time to music. From mid-2008 he started collaborating with the team “Cartouche” and Dmitry Pevtsov. Then, alongside with that, from early 2010 he started playing in the band “Xuman”, and in the fall of 2010 joined Dmitry Koldun’s team.

Dmitry considers himself successful and amorous, but not sentimental. He loves films “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones” and hates chanson. He believes that beauty in all its revelations should serve Muse for creating music. He dreams to become a wild game warden at some point in time and live in a small and cozy cabin on the bank of a beautiful river near a Siberian forest.
